Shuffleboard: Game Rules

Objective:

Score points by sliding roller pucks into scoring zones on the opposite side of the board. The player with the highest score when an opponent’s puck is closer to the end wins.

Setup:

1. Board Layout: The board is divided into two halves by a central barrier.

2. Scoring Zones: On the opposite side of the board, there are three scoring lines:

• Line 1: 1 Point

• Line 2: 2 Points

• Line 3: 3 Points

3. Pucks: Each player has four pucks of their color (either red or blue).

Gameplay:

1. Starting the Game:

• Players decide who goes first by a coin toss or mutual agreement.

• Players take turns sliding their pucks from their designated side of the board.

2. Sliding Pucks:

• Round 1: Players slide their pucks from the left side of the board.

• Round 2: Players slide their pucks from the right side of the board.

• Players alternate sides each round, aiming to rebound their pucks off the sides and into the scoring zones.

3. Scoring:

• After all pucks have been slid in each round, points are awarded based on the puck’s final position relative to the scoring lines.

• Points are awarded as follows:

• Line 1: 1 Point

• Line 2: 2 Points

• Line 3: 3 Points

4. Calculating Scores:

• Add up the points for each player’s pucks that are within scoring zones.

• The player with the highest total score for that round wins the round.

5. Determining the Winner of the Round:

• Compare the distance of the closest puck from each player to the end of the board.

• The player whose puck is nearest to the end of the board at the end of the round wins.

Winning the Game:

1. Round Wins:

• The game is played in multiple rounds.

• The player who wins the most rounds wins the game.

2. Tiebreaker:

• If a tie occurs at the end of the rounds, a tiebreaker round is played to determine the winner.

Additional Rules:

1. Fouls:

• If a puck is not fully on the board after sliding or does not rebound off the sides, it is considered a foul and scores no points.

2. Interference:

• Players must not touch or move pucks that are not theirs. Any interference results in a foul and the puck in question is removed from the board.
