Swingball Skittles: Game Rules

Objective:

Knock down as many of the 9 skittles (pins) as possible with a ball hanging from a string. The player who knocks down the most skittles in their two attempts wins the round.

Setup:

1. Equipment:

• Skittles (Pins): 9 pins arranged in a 3x3 grid.

• Swingball: A ball attached to a string, suspended from a central pole.

2. Arrangement:

• Set up the 9 skittles in a 3x3 grid formation.

• Place the swingball at a central position where players can swing the ball to target the skittles.

Gameplay:

1. Turn Order:

• Players decide who goes first by a coin toss or mutual agreement.

• Each player gets two attempts per turn to knock down the skittles.

2. Swinging the Ball:

• On each attempt, the player swings the ball to strike the skittles.

• The ball must swing in a complete arc to count.

3. Scoring:

• First Attempt: If the player knocks down all 9 skittles on their first attempt, it is called a “Strike.”

• Second Attempt: If the player knocks down all 9 skittles on their second attempt, it is called a “Half Strike.”

• If not all skittles are knocked down in either attempt, count the number of skittles knocked down.

4. Determining the Winner:

• At the end of each player’s two attempts, the total number of skittles knocked down is tallied.

• The player with the highest total score for the round wins that round.

Winning the Game:

1. Round Wins:

• The game can be played in multiple rounds.

• The player who wins the most rounds is declared the overall winner.

2. Tiebreaker:

• In case of a tie, a tiebreaker round is played where players each take one additional attempt to knock down as many skittles as possible. The player with the most skittles knocked down in the tiebreaker wins.

Additional Rules:

1. Fouls:

• If the ball does not swing properly or hits the skittles without knocking any down, it is considered a foul, and no points are awarded for that attempt.

2. Safety:

• Players should stand behind a designated line while swinging the ball to ensure safety and avoid interfering with others.
